We are passionate about our school and have worked hard creating a unique curriculum best suited to the children and families within our school. The National Curriculum core Subjects include English, Mathematics, Science and Information & Communications Technology (ICT. These core subjects are supported by a range of foundation subjects such as: History, Geography, Design and Technology, Arts & Music, Personal, Social, Health & Economic (PSHE), Religious Education (RE), Physical Education (PE) and Modern Foreign Language (MFL)
As a school we aim to inspire our children to have a life-long passion for reading and books. We encourage our pupils to be creative with their language skills and give valuable opportunities for them to share their individual ideas.
The intent of our mathematics curriculum at Burscough Bridge Methodist School is to provide a curriculum that is accessible to all and will maximise the development of every child’s ability, enabling them to fulfil their potential. We aim to ensure that children recognise the importance of mathematics in the wider world and that they are also able to use their mathematical skills and knowledge confidently in their lives in a range of different contexts. Our aim is that all children will develop an enjoyment of mathematics and experience a success in the subject with the ability to reason mathematically. We want children to realise that mathematics has been developed over centuries and that it is essential to everyday life, critical to science, technology, engineering and necessary for financial literacy and most forms of employment. We are committed to developing children’s curiosity about mathematics and its power.
Our school’s intent is to meet fully the requirements of the new National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework whilst stimulating our children’s curiosity and wonder about the natural world around them. The children are encouraged to ask questions about things that they experience and observe and this allows them to develop into independent thinkers with a lively and enquiring mind just like super scientists! Our Science curriculum is enhanced with a visit from a Scientist for the day. This supports and consolidate the work being completed in class.
We provide a relevant, challenging and enjoyable curriculum for computing for all our children. We endeavour to equip our children with the confidence and capability to use ICT and computing throughout their lives. We have regular ‘Keeping Safe’ newsletters for parents and a section of the school website – Keeping safe- for all children and their families to access .This is updated and changes with the interests of our children.
